6th Grade Vocabulary for Thursday March 15th 

1.       GUI

Graphical User Interface, a GUI (pronounced as either G-U-I or gooey) allows the use of icons or other visual indicators to interact with electronic devices

2.       Mouse

is a handheld hardware input device that controls a cursor in a GUI and can move and select texticonsfiles, and folders.

3.       CPU

is the Central Processing Unit of the computer? A computer's CPU handles all instructions it receives from hardware and software running on the computer

4.       Monitor (VDT)

video display terminal (VDT) and video display unit (VDU), a monitor is an output device that displays video images and text

5.       Headset

device that connects to a telephone or computer that allow the user to talk and listen while keeping their hands free

6.       Word (MS)

 is a word processor published by Microsoft.

7.       Excel (MS)

is a software program from Microsoft  and is capable of creating and editing spreadsheets that are saved with a .xls or .xlsx file extension

8.       PowerPoint (MS)

is a Microsoft presentation software program that creates a slide show of important notes to display during a presentation

is a database software management program
